Welcome to the Kuhn Lab!

Proteins are awesome! I love the way they look and the variety of their structures. I want to know everything about them: what they do, why they look the way they do, how they do what they do, and how they are related to other proteins that do different things.

Just like us, proteins come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They even look different and speak different languages. Proteins each have a unique identity and purpose that is coded for and shaped by their history and story. Where they come from and their life experiences have molded them into the proteins they are today. But it is important to note that proteins, just like us, can change due to their environment and who and what influence them.

You see, just like the diversity of proteins that are required to make a cell function properly, science needs all of us and all of our different stories and experiences and perspectives and talents.

And this is what I want to emphasize:
You can do this.
You can learn and thrive.

Make no mistake: Science has a place for you.

You belong and are welcome here.

Research

KL_research_03.jpg

Our research laboratory studies Gcn5-related N-acetyltransferases (GNATs). The GNAT field is vast, and it takes many scientists from around the world to push our knowledge about this enzyme family forward.

Courses
